Lockdown 2.0 in Melbourne
Whilst Melbourne’s gone into a second lockdown, I was so pleased to see the return of test cricket. I loved watching the West Indies win, it seems that touring parties rarely do in modern cricket. Perhaps this is partly due to preparation. On this occasion, the West Indies spent a month preparing in the UK, rather than eight days, which has become typical of touring parties.
For those who may not know, I’ve just come on board as Program Director at the P2G High Performance Cricket Academy. As for my start, it’s been refreshing to see cricket coached in such a manner that is holistic.
The P2G coaching framework is centred around three key principals; Technical, Physical and Psychological. The end product is a well-rounded person, with skills extending beyond just cricket. Unfortunately, we’ve had to pause the academy for now, but I’m excited about using these 6 weeks to make improvements from our learnings.
It’s important to be active, in lockdown more than ever. So, I encourage all our students to allocate some time to cricket.
To help with this, we’re releasing a series of instructional videos via our Facebook and Instagram pages. Be sure to follow us! The videos have been created by our High-Performance coaching team and they’ll be released every few days (we’ve already released our Pull Shot instructional video).
This period is a great chance to work on the technical aspect of your game. If you need further support, don’t hesitate to reach out!
